| This ring binder is made from a three piece cover, screw posts and a rivitless ring system from Bensons International. The leather is Clansman from J. Hewit and Sons Ltd. The paper liner is from Cave Paper in Minneapolis. The screw posts are from Ohio Travel Bag.
For the cover I paired the leather in three strips. The thickest strip is closest the spine on each cover and was not paired very much. The middle strip is paired somewhat, making it thinner than the previous strip near the spine. The final strip is paired the thinnest. Paring the leather like this made it possible to make the veins thicker at one side and then gradually finer. I used a Sharf-fix paring machine to do 90% of the pairing. I blended the three strips by hand with a French paring knife. |
